The purpose of the American Vein & Lymphatic Society, as stated in its bylaws, is for the advancement of the art and science of phlebology. The AVLS provides a forum for physicians and healthcare professionals interested in venous diseases. It seeks to improve the understanding of the diagnosis and treatment of venous diseases by physicians and seeks to improve the delivery of care of venous diseases to the public. The AVLS is a non-profit public benefit corporation and is not organized for the private gain of any person.
The AVLS plans and programs educational activities each year that are developed with the purpose of sharing research, scientific knowledge, and expertise in all areas of the diagnosis and treatment of venous diseases.
Speakers are selected on the basis of their known expertise in the field of phlebology and their willingness to share that expertise with those who attend. It is the intent and understanding of the AVLS that information presented at its educational meetings is not considered proprietary, copyrighted, or exclusionary in any way, shape or form.
Any misrepresentation or statements by speakers that contradict this understanding will be referred to the AVLS's Ethics and Professional Standards Committee for review.
